MouthHealthy Kids’ Halloween Headquarters Offers Tips, Activities.

The ADA News (10/17) reports that the ADA’s and websites are offering “more activities, games and advice” ahead of Halloween “to scare away those unwanted tricks that sugary treats can play on children’s dental health.” offers tips for a healthy Halloween and a new Halloween Candy Survival Guide, which features quotes from ADA spokesperson Dr. Ana Paula Ferraz-Dougherty. In addition, an online video features ADA member dentists sharing their favorite types of candy and what they hand out to trick-or-treaters.

In a broadcast on the KTXL-TV Sacramento, CA (10/13, Fesai) website, a dentist with the CDA Cares free dental clinic provided tips for making healthy choices during Halloween, such as recommending people avoid sticky and hard candies, drink plenty of water, and avoid sugary beverages.

When having candy, the Dallas Morning News (10/17, Barker) states that chocolate may be the best option, according to the ADA, since it “washes off the teeth more easily than sticky stuff.”
