Dentistry Professor Advises Parents To Teach Their Children Good Dental Hygiene Habits Early.

The Lexington (KY) Herald-Leader (10/7) features commentary from University of Kentucky assistant professor Kelly Dingrando in which she highlights the importance of imparting healthy dental habits on children in order to ensure lifelong good health. Dingrando focuses on the importance of teaching children to brush twice a day, floss, and regularly visit the dentist. Dingrando cautions that this is about more than promoting a healthy smile, saying, “Oral health issues are linked to a number of diseases and conditions, including cardiovascular disease, endocarditis, dementia, respiratory infections, diabetic complications and, for pregnant women, premature birth and low birth weight.”
